Planet Surf Camp Le Pin Sec — Glamping Week
Planet’s Le Pin Sec camp is an adult glamping surf stay at Camping Le Pin Sec, Naujac-sur-Mer, north of Bordeaux’s wider surf region—not the Vieux-Boucau or Moliets camp. Its appeal is a dune-side, meal-organised week with level-grouped teaching and shared camp life. A glamping tent means provided bedding and a wooden floor, not a private bathroom or hotel room.

Course units are not separate full water lessons
The exact UK product and its price page offer twelve or twenty-two 45-minute units per week, mixing practical teaching and theory. There is also an accommodation/food/board-only variant with no course: selecting the cheapest base option does not buy coached sessions.
The same product’s older course paragraph instead says twenty-two sessions are usually delivered as three hours daily over six days and calls that eighteen hours of coaching, with theory additionally described. Those figures are not arithmetically equivalent: twenty-two times 45 minutes is 16.5 hours, whereas six times three hours is 18 hours. The French price introduction adds yet another “fourteen or twenty-four hours” wording while its actual 2026 table labels twelve/twenty-two lessons plus theory. No single universal total can honestly be certified from those pages.
Ask for the chosen course’s practical/theory split, total coached minutes, number of actual beach sessions and teaching days. Units can be combined into a longer visit to the beach; twenty-two units is not twenty-two separate full-length water lessons. Twelve45-minute units would be nine total unit-hours if the unit definition governs, but the practical/theory allocation for that Le Pin Sec option is not independently settled. Do not borrow Vieux-Boucau’s ten-practical/two-theory split to fill this gap.
The advertised maximum is eight students per instructor, with beginner/intermediate/advanced ability groups. The beginner course teaches a three-step take-off plus ocean basics; the intermediate description targets unbroken green waves and left/right direction rather than straight-to-shore rides. Advanced coaching is described for surfers already comfortable on green waves and looking at turns/manoeuvres. These are programme aims, not guarantees of a manoeuvre, private coaching or a fixed water-only duration. Tell Planet your current ability and preferred teaching language before committing; “multilingual” does not assign a particular language to your week.
Tent sharing, sanitary facilities and realistic privacy
Planet specifies two people sharing a four-person-sized glamping tent, with mattresses, wooden floorboards and fresh bedding; a sleeping bag is not normally required under that description. “Two-person” does not automatically mean solo private use, a double bed, locked storage or a solid-wall room. Ask about roommate allocation, bed arrangement and any single-use supplement. The UK booking note recommends one group booking if you want to share tents or lessons, even if paying individually; separate bookings do not guarantee staying together.
Plan for campsite sanitary facilities, not an ensuite glamping room. The exact Planet tent specification does not include an in-tent toilet or shower. The municipal campsite distinguishes its campsite facilities from outside motorhome parking without toilet/shower access; an outside parking ticket is not a substitute for the residential package. Ask Planet for the actual shared toilet/shower block location, hot-water arrangements and route from your tent. Block distance, private-bathroom option, accessible tent route and cleaning frequency are not established by the reviewed exact product. Guest cleanliness reviews are not a service guarantee.
The host advises that shaded pitches are limited. Confirm shade, power/charging, towel provision and valuables storage if important; no air conditioning, soundproofing or ensuite is advertised here. Communal dining/chill spaces and occasional parties make it sociable. Planet calls Le Pin Sec its quieter camp, but that is relative to its other camps—not a guaranteed silent retreat.
Meals and dietary limits that affect a booking
The exact UK Le Pin Sec offer includes full board: a Continental breakfast buffet, a packed lunch you make at breakfast and a hot evening meal with salad/dessert. Crockery/cutlery are provided. Prepare the lunch before going to the beach; it is not an independently staffed hot-lunch restaurant.
Vegetarian and vegan options are explicitly offered with notice at booking. The page also offers gluten-free food but expressly cannot guarantee no contact with gluten-containing food. Coeliac/allergy requirements therefore need a specific workable answer, not a generic “all diets catered for” assurance. Guests cannot use the kitchen for hygiene reasons. Ask how arrival/departure meals and any missed meal work; unlimited alcohol, restaurant spending and unrestricted self-catering are not included by inference.
Yoga, equipment and the limits of “all included”
The dedicated UK page says yoga sessions are free to join. Le Pin Sec describes daily options, sometimes morning and later in the day around the surf courses. Optional means you can choose whether to attend—not that yoga is inherently a paid extra. Exact session frequency, teacher and weather-dependent location should be confirmed; an older overview’s five-session headline is not a private weekly timetable.
Boards, wetsuits and leashes are described as available without an extra hire charge outside lessons. That does not establish a particular hardboard model/size always being free, independent coaching, continuous rescue supervision or freedom from equipment damage/theft liability. A board/security deposit, excess and replacement-cost rules were not established in the reviewed exact France offer. Ask before taking equipment and document its condition; do not import Fuerteventura’s room-key deposit or another destination’s equipment insurance.
The France package lists accident and personal liability insurance during surf lessons and tourist tax. Obtain the actual policy, limits and exclusions. That wording does not establish insurance for independent surfing, all equipment damage, medical repatriation or trip cancellation. Evening games, films and camp social activities are advertised, but offsite drinks, shopping, bicycle hire and city-trip transport are not all automatically free. Lacanau is an outing by road, not the beach immediately outside camp.
Beach access, skill fit and the real season
Planet describes its Le Pin Sec area as behind the dunes and roughly40 metres from the beach; the host uses broader100–150 metre campsite estimates. These describe different reference points, not a measured tent-to-water accessible route. Ask about the actual dune crossing and where your lesson meets.
Both are Atlantic sandbank beach breaks, not sheltered wave pools. Planet’s regional guide describes changing sandbanks, busier summer surf and stronger autumn/winter conditions. Coaching is grouped by ability, but neither a sandy bottom nor summer dates guarantees gentle waves or absence of currents. Follow the actual beach flags/instructor plan. Do not treat famous Hossegor barrels or a marketing claim of “always surfable waves” as beginner suitability or a weather guarantee. A coach’s lifeguard qualification is not proof of round-the-clock supervision during independent board use.
The 2026 tables are past dates, not live future availability. The sources also disagree materially: the UK product header says June–August; the France overview gives an undated July-to-September window; the dated price table runs from July into late September 2026. The host campsite’s own2026 page instead states June 13–September 13. That host-versus-Planet September difference has not been reconciled.
Do not infer a late-September departure or 2027 operation from a page remaining online. Obtain the actual camp opening/closing dates, campsite access and course before buying transport. The wider Atlantic being surfable outside summer does not make a seasonal tent camp open.
Summer tends to bring warmer conditions and more visitors; shoulder weeks can be cooler, wetter and more swell-dependent. Tent accommodation still means outdoor walks to facilities and exposure to wind/rain/heat. Ask about supplied wetsuit fit and the actual closure/fallback plan rather than assume a wetsuit specification, storm-proof bedroom or guaranteed replacement course.
Arrival and departure: confirm each separate leg
- Confirm the actual operating week, chosen twelve/twenty-two-unit or no-course option and tent/food arrangement first. Saturday is Planet’s stated changeover day.
- The named closest airport is Bordeaux, BOD. Flights are not included by default, and old airline-route lists on the operator page are not a current flight schedule. An airport-to-camp drive estimate is not an included airport pickup.
- For rail, Planet names Lesparre as the nearest station and offers a camp shuttle requested at least three days before arrival. Arrange this directly with Planet before fixing a tight connection; ask cost/inclusion, actual service dates, pickup location, luggage/board capacity and delay contact. A request is not a confirmed driver or an unlimited waiting promise.
- If flying to Bordeaux and continuing by rail, check the actual airport-to-station connection and train timetable yourself against the accepted shuttle. The host’s seasonal bus mention is not a verified year-round alternative. No free BOD curbside pickup is assumed.
- Ask which campsite entrance/reception leads to Planet’s tent area, arrival access and any late-arrival procedure. The operator’s Naujac town-address wording and the host’s road-address wording are not replaced with invented coordinates. Driving guests should ask about their actual camp parking arrangement; municipal pitch/parking prices are not automatically your surf-package charges.
- Confirm return-shuttle time and the last available lesson/meal before fixing departure travel. Intercity surf-bus transport is a separately selected service, not automatically included. Ask the carrier about hard-case/board luggage restrictions rather than assume the general tour luggage rule fits every airline or bus.
Payment instructions need an actual contract
The general UK terms say payment is due twenty-eight days before departure unless the contract agrees otherwise. The French Le Pin Sec reservation page instead describes a 30% initial payment and the rest up to thirty days before arrival. Those are different published instructions, not evidence that you can choose the later deadline. Obtain your actual deposit, balance date and refund/cancellation exposure on the confirmation. The residential campsite’s own pitch insurance/conditions are not automatically Planet’s package terms.
Cancellation and weather: consequential terms to read before paying
The linked Planet general terms identify the organiser on the written confirmation. Section 8 publishes cancellation charges per person as a percentage of the travel price, not merely a lost reservation deposit:
| Published timing wording before the trip | Published charge |
|---|---|
| Up to the thirtieth day | 30% |
| Up to the twenty-second day | 40% |
| Up to the fifteenth day | 50% |
| Up to the eighth day | 70% |
| From the seventh day | 80% |
| No-show without prior cancellation | 90% |
The source makes receipt of cancellation decisive. Request the actual calendar cutoffs and the applicable version with your confirmation rather than assume a cancellation sent but not received meets a deadline. Rebooking is generally withdrawal plus a new booking; an individually agreed change may carry a 25-euro per-person fee and depends on availability. That is not a guaranteed low-cost date change or a promise that the deposit caps your exposure.
Section 9 says unused services/early return generally do not produce a refund; weather-prevented or partly delivered sports/excursions do not automatically produce a proportional refund, with a stated saved-cost exception. It also mixes in Fuerteventura-specific course scheduling language, so do not import those island weekend rules into this France camp. Ask what happens to your actual course if the beach closes or the full unit allocation cannot run, and whether a voucher or rescheduling is offered. No cash-refund or same-week replacement guarantee is established.
The public terms contain legal/translated wording and no clearly established revision date. This guide reports their published conditions, not an opinion on enforceability or a recertified private booking. Confirm the organiser, governing terms and any separately contracted transport conditions in writing. The operator recommends cancellation/repatriation insurance; a lesson-only accident/liability inclusion is not comprehensive travel, equipment, theft or cancellation cover.
Practical traveler FAQs
Is a 45-minute unit a separate full surf lesson?
No. Units may be grouped into a longer session and include theory. Le Pin Sec advertises 12/22 units but contradictory 16.5/18-hour and other hour wording; request the actual practical/theory schedule.
Can I count on the bigger course in an overview heading?
Choose twelve or twenty-two units explicitly, then resolve the practical/theory and total-minute conflict on the quote. A no-course accommodation/board variant is different.
Will I have a private tent and bathroom?
The offer normally puts two guests in a larger glamping tent with bedding. Sole use, roommate allocation and bed arrangement require confirmation. Do not assume an ensuite; ask for the actual shared sanitary-block arrangement, route and accessibility.
Is yoga an optional paid extra?
The exact UK product says sessions are free to join. Attendance is optional, not inherently a surcharge. Confirm the actual timetable; it is not a guarantee of a fixed number of sessions regardless of conditions.
Are all meals included and can I cook my own?
The full-board package describes breakfast, a lunch packed at breakfast and hot dinner. Guests cannot use the kitchen. Confirm arrival/departure coverage and actual package wording.
Can the camp guarantee gluten-free allergy-safe food?
No such guarantee is established. The UK page explicitly says gluten-free food may have contact with gluten-containing food. Declare dietary/medical needs at booking and obtain a workable preparation arrangement rather than rely on a broad menu label.
Does free equipment mean no deposit or damage liability?
No. Free out-of-lesson hire is advertised, but exact board/security deposit, damage/theft rules and excess were not established. Lesson accident/liability insurance is not blanket independent-surfing or equipment cover.
Are the 2026 dates still bookable or evidence of next year?
No. Displayed 2026 departures are past at this review, and source season windows conflict. The host campsite’s opening does not certify Planet operation. Obtain the future departure year, dates and actual services before buying transport.
Is airport transfer included?
No automatic BOD pickup is established. Planet offers a Lesparre-station shuttle requested at least three days ahead; confirm cost, pickup and delay arrangements separately.
Could cancellation cost more than my deposit?
Yes under the published general schedule: charges rise from 30% to 80% of the travel price per person as departure approaches, with 90% for no-show without cancellation. Receipt of notice matters. Obtain the applicable dated policy and exact calendar deadlines rather than assume a deposit-only limit.
Are weather-cancelled lessons automatically refunded?
No automatic refund or same-week replacement is established. The general terms restrict refunds for weather-prevented/part-delivered activities, with a saved-cost exception. Ask how your exact unit contract handles closure, replacement or any voucher before committing.
