Accommodation and privacy — shared baths, not assigned inventory

Official room variants: single (on request), twin (surcharge), triple (surcharge), multi-bed 4/5. Family rooms with a small terrace are offered on request — state adult/child counts on the enquiry. Do not infer that every booking receives a family terrace room from the inventory list.

Bathrooms are shared: two bathrooms with three showers and two separate toilets, plus a garden shower for sand/wetsuits. Quiet house: night rest from 23:00; no loud music; no parties. Dogs on request with a published cleaning fee (€5/day) — confirm before booking. Wi-Fi / fibre is available for work; ask if you need a specific desk setup.

Age suitability — lodging 6+ vs surfing 8+ (and AGB nuance)

Current official FAQ (villa page):

  • Solo travellers: at least 18.
  • Families: children welcome for the stay from six years.
  • Surf course: children from eight, if they swim safely and are physically suited, accompanied by a parent.

Course page repeats the 8+ surfing rule with parent + swimming/fitness, and caps groups at eight (or four on the small-group beginner option).

AGB §2 Ziff. 3 (contract terms) separately states that for the trip “Surfvilla Seignosse” the minimum age without a guardian is 16, and under-18 travellers need written parental consent; other Maranga products are 18+.

Do not merge these into one invented rule. Treat FAQ lodging/surfing thresholds and AGB unaccompanied-age wording as both live; get written confirmation for your party’s ages and guardianship before paying. This content enrichment does not change directory/globe picker flags; a separate authorized eligibility review would be needed if beginner/intermediate picker rows should reflect the explicit Anfänger/Aufbau course pages.

Coaching quantities, levels and guiding distinction

This is taught course coaching, not a multi-spot guided tour product:

  • Courses usually start the day after arrival and ideally run three consecutive days, timed to tides/sandbanks.
  • Beginner A3/8: 3 days × 2 hours, max 8 students, softboard + wetsuit during course days.
  • Beginner A3/4: 3 days × 3 hours, max 4 students, material included.
  • Intermediate / Aufbau: 1–3 days (e.g. 1×2h, 2×2h, 3×2h price framings), max 8 or small-group max 4; requires prior beginner course(s) and practice; whitewater stand-up expected before green-wave work.
  • First course day helps the coach place you; groups are not claimed perfectly homogeneous.
  • Instruction predominantly German; English possible depending on coach — request language on enquiry.
  • Course-day boards/wetsuits included; after-course rental is separate and availability-based. Bed-only stays do not automatically include free boards.

Yoga, e-bikes, slackline and garden games are villa amenities/extras — not a proof of daily included yoga classes.

Skill, break and season tradeoffs

Seignosse beachbreaks (Le Penon, Casernes, Bourdaines, Estagnots, etc.) sit on the Côte d’Argent. Operator walking estimates to beach/spots are roughly 6–15 minutes depending on section — estimates, not a guarantee every teaching bank is at the garden gate. Beginner-friendlier windows are often described as July to early September, still subject to swell/wind/tide checks. Larger days can push teaching or free surf toward different sections; a car helps for distant alternatives, not for basic Le Penon access.

Follow flags and coach choice; sandbanks and rips change. Spots marketed for experienced surfers are not first-lesson water.

Meals, gear and exclusions

Optional meal package: breakfast buffet, beach sandwich, dinner — choose mixed, vegetarian or vegan at booking. No assumption of full board if you decline the package. Course materials on course days only; extra rental optional. Free parking at the house. No automatic airport transfer.

Practical arrival and booking/cancellation terms

  1. Confirm nights (3 bed-only / 4+ with course), room category, meal plan, course type (A3/8, A3/4, intermediate days), ages and language in writing.
  2. Check-in from 15:00. Departure timing: arrival page header states checkout 10:30 / leave by 12:00; FAQ on the same topic states room until 11:00 / leave until 13:00 — confirm which times apply on your confirmation (fee for exceptions).
  3. Gateways named: Biarritz (BIQ), Bordeaux (BOD), Bilbao (BIO). Rail via Dax / Bayonne / Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse; bus 517 to Seignosse Le Penon (Office de Tourisme stop). House can collect from Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse for a fee if pre-arranged. No free airport pickup.
  4. Payment (AGB): after contract + Sicherungsschein, 20% deposit; balance 14 days before travel; on-site deposit possible for rooms.
  5. Cancellation (AGB §7, own arrival / rail / bus schedule): compensation ladders — up to 30 days before 20%; to 15 days 40%; to 7 days 60%; to 2 days 80%; 1 day before / no-show 90% of trip price (customer may prove lower actual loss). Travel insurance strongly recommended.

Who it suits

Adults, couples and families seeking a quiet small-house base walking distance from Le Penon. Families must meet lodging 6+ and, if booking lessons, surfing 8+ with swimming competence — and clear the AGB consent rules for under-18s. Not a party hostel or an automatic all-inclusive junior camp.

Practical traveler FAQs

What is the minimum age to stay, and to take a surf course?

Official FAQ: solo guests 18+; children may lodge from six; surf courses from eight with a parent if the child swims safely and is fit enough. AGB also sets 16 as the unaccompanied minimum for “Surfvilla Seignosse” with written parental consent under 18. Confirm your party in writing — do not assume one threshold replaces the other.

Can a 7-year-old take the surf course if they can stay at the villa?

Not under the published course rule. Lodging from six does not equal course eligibility; surfing starts at eight with the conditions above.

Are bathrooms private?

No. Guests share two bathrooms (three showers) and two separate toilets, plus a garden/wetsuit shower. Family terrace rooms are a lodging category on request, not a private-bath promise for every booking.

How many lesson hours and what group size?

Beginner packs are published as 3×2h (max 8) or 3×3h (max 4). Intermediate days use 2h blocks over 1–3 days (max 8 or small-group max 4). Confirm the exact pack on your quote; courses usually begin the day after arrival.

Do I need a car?

Not for beach and Le Penon basics. The house says daily needs are walkable. A car helps for distant spots or evening travel when buses are limited.

Is airport pickup included?

No automatic airport inclusion is stated. Use rail/bus 517, a rental car, or a pre-booked taxi/fee-based collection from Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse.

Can I arrive on Sunday?

Current booking FAQs say arrivals are possible every day except Sunday.

What cancellation fees apply?

AGB staggered compensation for customer withdrawal (own-arrival schedule): 20% / 40% / 60% / 80% / 90% of the trip price by proximity to departure, plus 20% deposit timing rules. Read the AGB on your confirmation; insurance is advised.

Are surfboards included without a course?

Course-day softboard and wetsuit are included when you book a course. Extra rental is optional afterward. Confirm free-surf hire if you are bed-only.

Is the Atlantic always beginner-friendly?

No. Sandbanks and rip currents change. Operator beginner-season guidance often points to July–early September as relatively moderate, still subject to daily checks. Follow instructor and flag guidance.

What will the final price include?

Request a dated quote for room category/occupancy, meal plan, course type and hours, rental extras, any station collection and taxes. Marketing nightly examples are not locked here.
