Which Surfboard Should You Buy & Use?

When I first started surfing I had absolutely no idea what kind of surfboard to pick. Lucky for me, one of my best friends (who got me into surfing) had a few boards for me to try out.

Basically, I assumed I would just ride the same surfboard he did, which was 100% not the case. If you’re a beginner, you might think the same thing… you know, you grab a board and off you go.

In this video, Kale Brock from https://thesurfersroadmap.com answers one of the most popular questions from How To Rip subscribers – which surfboard should I ride?

Here are a few things to keep in mind when picking a surfboard:

  • What kind of waves will you be surfing?
  • How big are the waves?
  • How experienced are you?
  • How much do you weigh?
  • Your height and/or arm length.

Once you have an idea of what kind of waves you’ll be surfing, you can start to narrow down your choices.

If you’re just starting out, I would recommend a longboard. They are great for beginners because they are stable and easy to paddle. They are also good in small waves.

As you get more experience, you might want to try a shortboard. Shortboards are more maneuverable and are better in bigger waves.

There are also a few other things to consider when picking a surfboard, like your weight and height. If you’re a big guy (over 200 lbs), you might want to get a wider board. And if you’re tall (over 6 feet), you might want a longer board.

The best way to figure out what kind of surfboard you need is to talk to someone at your local surf shop. They will be able to help you pick out the right board for your level and the waves you’ll be surfing.

So, which surfboard should you buy and use? It really depends on a few things, like the waves you’ll be surfing and your experience level. But the best way to figure it out is to talk to someone at your local surf shop. They can help you pick the perfect board for your needs.

Happy surfing!
