St Augustine is a great surfing destination for Florida, and for good reason. With its great waves and beautiful beaches, St Augustine is the perfect place to catch some waves. When Hurricane season kicks into high gear, you’ll be enjoying some of the best waves Florida has to offer.
Many of the surf communities in North Florida stick to their own. There is the Jax crew and then when you get down to St Augustine you end up with the Auggie crew. It’s not that everyone that paddles out here is local to St Augustine. It’s actually the closest beach to Gainesville’s University of Florida. It’s about a 75-mile drive from Gainesville, but worth the trek.
