What Sally Means To The Surfing Community

Sally Fitzgibbons is one of the most successful and popular professional surfers in the world. Originally from Australia, Fitzgibbons has won multiple world championship events and is widely considered to be one of the best surfers of her generation. In addition to her exceptional surfing ability, Fitzgibbons is also known for her dedication to health and fitness, as well as her commitment to giving back to the surfing community.

For many people, Fitzgibbons represents the highest levels of success that can be achieved in the sport of surfing. However, she also serves as an example of what is possible if you are willing to work hard and stay focused on your goals. By following her example, we can all learn to set our sights high and achieve our dreams.

In 2014, Sally was voted Australia’s #1 Most Trusted Sportswoman. That right there tells you just how important Sally is as a role model.

Sally Fitzgibbons Diet

While Sally doesn’t have a rigid diet plan, the number 1 diet rule is flexibility. If you think about it, that makes total sense. Traveling around to different countries and cultures means some of her preferred foods might not be available.

Her daily nutrition patterns are pretty simple to follow. She says she’ll wake up and have a protein bar before her first session and a liter of water to kickstart the system.

After the first training session of the day, she’ll have a bigger breakfast. It might be poached eggs and a roast veggie salad. Her go-to lunch is a smoothie bowl. These smoothie bowls are usually banana, almond milk or coconut water, with protein isolate power, and then she’ll throw on whatever nuts or sees or fruits are available.

For dinner, it’s a lean protein, like fish, chicken or meat, and a colorful salad. She’ll follow that up with a lemon ginger tea to finish the day.

She is lactose intolerant and found that out after brainstorming with a nutritionist in her teens. “That was a huge game changer with my overall gut health and feeling,” she said. “It was a big thing to get right… get your food tuned in and your body responds better, muscles fire faster, and you can prevent injuries.”

Sally Fitzgibbons Workout Routine

One thing that Sally does is surf… a lot. When the conditions are good, she estimates that she spends up to six hours a day in the water. If you’re a surfer, you understand. She says “You’re not chasing the watch, you’re chasing the feeling.” when referring to losing track of time while out surfing.

When the conditions aren’t great for surfing, she does “land training”. This includes cardio and yoga because both flexibility and mobility are super important. You can’t be too rigid and muscly out in the water.

Resistance Training is another big thing. You need to build full squat strength in order to create power in your surfing. She’ll include old-school Olympic-style lifts as well as some more modern equipment like resistance bands, medicine balls and Bosu balls.
