How Dangerous Is Small Padang Padang?

Padang Padang packs one of the best barrels you’ll see anywhere. It also has a reputation for having a very shallow reef that regularly devours boards and bodies.

So what’s it like on smaller days? It should be safer, right?

…not nececarily.

Anything head-high or smaller tends to pinch, making the exit on most tubes virtually impossible. And on a low tide, the reef is still just as shallow, so the likelihood of not making it to the channel and hitting the reef is even higher on a small day.
