The Longboard Tour is back. At the Cuervo Surf Ranch Classic, the world’s best longboarders head inland for a one-day contest at Surf Ranch. All throughout the day, timeless talents like Justin Quintal, Honolua Blomfield, Rodrigo Sphaier, and Chloe Calmon will showcase creative lines as they face off in perfect waves.
What is Cuervo Surf Ranch?
At the Cuervo Surf Ranch Classic, 12 of the world’s best longboarders head inland for an all-day contest at Surf Ranch. When the lights come on, the competition goes off. These timeless talents showcase creative lines as they trade waves under the night sky. Adding to the festivities are prizes for longest noseride and best shared wave, as well as an agave board session.
It’s going to be an individual competition format and for the semi’s and finals it will be a traditional man on man style format. Each surfer gets 4 waves and the score will be the best combined right and left.
It’s not a nose-riding competition but more of a fluid-complete surfing with beautiful bottom turns into nose rides into another turn. Maybe then into a barrel. The best ride is going to be the person who puts this together seamlessly with style and grace. The judges will be looking at where the riders feet are, mainly looking for people who are able to hang ten or have a tight five. One of the biggest things the judges will be looking for is style.
What The Cuervo Surf Ranch Classic Is All About
Jose Cuervo in the late 70’s had an event called the Cuervo Classic in Hawaii. They thought the surf ranch would be a good place to bring it back.
