Bali Surf Journal – September 2020

Although we had a consistent few months of dry season waves, there weren’t a whole lot of good swell and tide combinations for Bali’s best barrel: Padang Padang.

That all changed in early September, with multiple swells arriving back to back for more than a couple of weeks straight. It was probably the best run of waves we’ve had all year, and it felt like Padang Padang was firing more often than not.

The forecast made enough of a blip on Kelly Slater’s radar that he made his way to Bali just in time for the first swell of the month – and the 11x World Champ didn’t disappoint with standout sessions all over the island.

The back end of September wasn’t nearly as chocked full of swell, but all in all it was and outstanding month of waves and surfing, and will be hard to beat until next season I suspect.
